Dr. Hector Rivera-Melo was born in Mexico City and moved to Chicago at a young age. He completed his undergraduate studies in biology at the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) before deciding to follow in his father’s footsteps and pursue a career in chiropractic medicine. He earned his Doctor of Chiropractic (DC) degree with honors from the Southern California University of Health Sciences (SCU) in 2009, then went on to complete a residency in diagnostic imaging at SCU.Upon finishing his residency, Dr. Rivera-Melo was awarded Diplomate status by the American Chiropractic Board of Radiologists (DACBR) in 2012. He further expanded his clinical expertise by obtaining his certification in diagnostic musculoskeletal ultrasound (RMSK) in 2017.Dr. Rivera-Melo has authored multiple radiology-focused articles and has lectured internationally on a range of imaging topics. He has more than a decade of experience as a musculoskeletal radiologist, during which he has served in several key roles, including Director of the Center for Diagnostic Imaging, Head Radiologist, and Associate Professor at SCU, as well as Diagnostic Imaging Consultant for the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). In addition to his academic and clinical roles, he has served as both vice president and president of the American Chiropractic College of Radiology (ACCR). Now living in the Chicago area, Dr. Rivera-Melo enjoys spending time with his wife and two children and playing disc golf whenever the weather cooperates.
